Rita Goebel (1937 – 2023)

Rita M. Goebel, age 86, of Edgerton, Ohio, passed away at 3:05 P.M. on Wednesday, November 9, 2023, at The Laurels of DeKalb in Butler, Indiana, after a brief illness. Mrs. Goebel was a 1955 graduate of Edon High School and had worked as an inspector at AirWay Manufacturing in Edgerton retiring with eighteen years of service.

She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Edgerton and the rosary altar society.  She was devoted to her catholic faith and for many years lead the prayers prior to morning services and did the newsletter for the K of C. She enjoyed working puzzles, baking, cooking and being with her family.

Rita M. Goebel was born on September 19, 1937, in Superior Township of Williams County, the daughter of William H. and Bertha M. (Trausch) Bermingham.


She married Richard J. Goebel on April 4, 1959, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Blakeslee, Ohio, and he survives.

Surviving in addition to her husband are one son, Daniel Goebel, of Edgerton; one daughter, Angela Goebel, of Edgerton; six grandchildren including, Ryan (Jilleena) Goebel, of Edgerton, Brandi Girardot, in Arizona, Joseph (Joy) Goebel, of Antwerp, Ohio, and Autumn (Jeremy) Wildhart, of Tiffin, Ohio; and eleven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister and brother-in-law, Emma and Herman Gase.


Visitation will be held on Monday, November 13, 2023, from 3:00-7:00 P.M. in the Krill Funeral Home, 114 East Hull Street, Edgerton with recitation of the rosary at 7:00 P.M. in the funeral home.  Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, November 14, 2023, at 10:30 A.M. in St. Mary Catholic Church, Edgerton, with Reverend Daniel Borgelt officiating. Interment will follow in St. Mary Catholic Cemetery, Edgerton.

Memorials are requested to St. Mary Catholic Church, or to the Williams County Humane Society.
