The new furniture and mattress store in Wauseon, named Baldy’s, held a ribbon cutting in partnership with the Wauseon Chamber of Commerce. The ribbon cutting took place at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, November 10th.
Owners John Weber, Tammy Weber, Shawn O’Neil, Nick Tule, and Gordy Mull were joined by store workers, local business owners, city officials, and Chamber of Commerce members as the ribbon was cut.
The idea for the store came around May of this year. The idea was shared with the owners who each thought a new storefront would be a good idea.
With the building being seldom occupied for nearly the past 18 years, it took a few months to get things renovated. Following much-needed work, Baldy’s was born, and Wauseon had itself a new store.
Co-owner John Weber explained that the process of creating the store took much thought, as the furniture business was not necessarily something they had worked on before.
Conversations with other furniture and mattress store owners took place which helped push the group in the direction they needed to go to get where they are today.

The store sells many products and brands with some being as follows. La-Z-Boy, White Dove Mattress, Hughes Upholstered Furniture, Rize Mattress, James Allen Amish Furniture, and Liberty Hardwood. Some furniture is even able to be custom-made for your situation.
The store originally had issues with obtaining inventory upon its creation earlier in the year. Supply chain issues and the fact that furniture orders take months to make, ship, and receive added to this issue.
Inventory began to come in more and more over time and the store held its opening day on September 1st. Today the store has a fantastic amount of furniture in stock, along with a great atmosphere and friendly customer service.
“We are extremely excited about the reception we have received from the community. We are grateful for the loyalty Fulton County shoppers have shown us. We look forward to being the county’s furniture and mattress source for many years to come.”
“Service is the main thing that sets us apart from many other dealers. When you come in here, you’re dealing with a partner. We care at a different level than the chains and big box stores do.”
“All of us like people and we love helping people buy something that they want. It’s been a fun time, and we hope it will continue for years to come,” said John Weber.
Baldy’s Furniture and Mattress store can be found at 1290 North Shoop Avenue #15 in the Wauseon Plaza.
