Roger D. Evans, age 74, of Archbold and longtime resident of Delta, passed away Monday afternoon, May 26, 2014 at the University of Toledo Medical Center. He was born in Silica, OH on May 12, 1940 to the late David W. Evans and Audrey (Smith) Evans.
Roger was united in marriage to Geraldine Stevenson and she preceded him in death in 2000. Later he married Mary “Sandy” Wurtz and she survives. Roger worked on many construction projects for 43 years as an Ohio Operating Engineer. Some of his fondest hobbies included hunting, woodworking, gardening and especially planting trees and shrubs. In addition to his parents and first wife, Geraldine, he was preceded in death by sisters, Marlene Beach and Audrey Garrow and brothers-in-law, Carl and Jim Wurtz.
He is survived by his wife, Mary “Sandy” Evans; children, David (Lisa) Evans of Swanton, Keith (Sheryl) Evans of Delta, Laurie (Tom) vonSeggern of Delta and Lisa Forshey of Grand Rapids, OH; step-children, Dennis Myers of Fremont, Barbara Johnston of Union Town, PA, Tracy Mauderino of Monesson, PA, Joseph Myers of Tipp City, OH and Kathryn Fleming of Vickery, OH; brothers, Jerald Evans of Bryan and Bill (Elvira) Evans of Texas; mother-in-law, Marian Wurtz and many loving grandchildren and great grandchildren.
