Ruth A. Proudfoot

Ruth A ProudfootRuth A. Proudfoot, age 88, of Wauseon, with family members by her side; peacefully passed away at Defiance Inpatient Hospice on Tuesday afternoon, September 29, 2015.  She was born in Grand Rapids, Ohio on April 12, 1927 to the late Clarence Conrad and Marie (Baker) Conrad.

Ruth was a 1945 graduate of Delta High School.  Ruth and Merlon Proudfoot were united in marriage on April 8, 1949 in Delta.  She served as secretary and bookkeeper for various companies; including, the Delta Foodlocker, Baker Furniture, Fulton Landmark, Wauseon Title Department and D&G Welding.  Ruth was an active member and volunteer at Church of the Master United Methodist in Wauseon.  She enjoyed playing cards, taking trips with friends, knitting for craft shows and puzzles.  Ruth also liked taking rides in the country and listening to music, but most of all she loved spending time with her family and grandchildren.  Ruth loved following her grandchildren as they participated in sports and was an avid Ohio State Buckeye and Cleveland Indians fan.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Melvin Conrad, sisters, Helen Smith, Phyllis Richards and Sue Green.

Ruth is survived by her husband of 66 years, Merlon; daughters, Jill (LaRoy) Martinez and Julie (Dan) Stuckey; son, Reed Proudfoot; grandchildren, Kayla (Logan) Wyse, Colton (Betsy) Martinez, Luke (Janessa) Stuckey, Alex (Courtney) Stuckey, Sarah (Logan) Stuckey, Oliver Stuckey, Chase (Krysta) Proudfoot and Darci Proudfoot; great grandchildren, Henley Wyse, Maks, Wyatt and Brody Stuckey and Emerson Stuckey.

Friends may visit from 10:00 AM – 12:00 Noon on Friday, October 2, 2015 at Barnes Funeral Chapel, 5825 St Hwy 109 in Delta; where a funeral service to celebrate her life will begin at 12:00 Noon.  Pastor Ben Sheaffer will be officiating.  Interment will follow at Wauseon Union Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be considered to Community Health Professionals Inpatient Hospice, 6817 St Rt. 66 N, Defiance, Ohio 43512 or Church of the Master, 229 West Chestnut St., Wauseon, Ohio 43567 in Ruth’s memory.  Online condolences may be sent to the family through our website at www.barnesfuneralchapel.com.
