Ruth K. Griffin (1935 – 2015)

Ruth Kathryn Snyder GriffinRuth Kathryn (Snyder) Griffin, age 80, of Napoleon passed away Wednesday, July 1, 2015 at Defiance Inpatient Hospice. For the past two years she has been a resident of the Orchards of Northcrest in Napoleon while battling cancer. She was born at home in Delta OH on March 6, 1935 to George F. and Clara (Mills) Snyder and lived most of her life in Northwest Ohio. On September 15, 1956 she married Hal Griffin who survives her.

Ruth is also survived by her three children Debbie (David) Weissman of Lewisville TX, Cindy Lyons of Maumee OH and Doug Griffin of Coldwater MI. Grandchildren Dan (Jackie LaDue) of Silverdale WA and Kathryn Weissman (Marc Lain) of Chicago IL.

For many years, Ruth was a stay at home mom and provided in home day care. She was a foster parent and Big Sister in Henry County for several years. When she wasn’t providing daycare she worked at different local factories. She retired from IAC formerly UTA of Wauseon in 1997. Ruth was an active member of First Christian Church in Wauseon, Henry County Senior Center and a past member of TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly).

In addition to her husband and children, Ruth is survived by her siblings Helen (Walter) Desgranges, Paul Snyder, Margurite Lueke, Gerald (Florence Ann) Snyder, Dorothy Hill and Betty (Robert) Carter, sisters-in-laws Donna and Iona Snyder and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings Franklin Snyder, Anna Mary Stoll, Robert Snyder and Donald Snyder.

In continuing her giving ways, Ruth has donated her earthly body to the University of Toledo Medical Center for anatomical studies. A memorial service celebrating her life will be held at First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), 129 E. Elm St., Wauseon, Ohio 43567 on Sunday August 2, 2015 at 1:30 PM. All are welcome to join the family for a reception and time of visiting with the family in the fellowship hall following the service.
