Ruth Mary Lumbrezer, 90, of Co. Rd. 22, Fayette, died Tuesday afternoon, October 16, 2012, at the Swanton Health Care nursing home in Swanton, OH. She was born November 12, 1921, in Toledo, OH, the daughter of the late Timothy and Hazel (Kunkel) Hartigan. She married Bernard J. “Dud” Lumbrezer on April 25, 1953, at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Toledo, and he survives.
Ruth lived her early life in the Toledo and Assumption areas, and settled in Fayette in 1962. She graduated from DeVilbiss High School in Toledo and furthered her education to become a Registered Nurse. Ruth worked for several years at Mercy Hospital in Toledo, and later Morenci Hospital, where she retired. She is remembered for her love of cooking and baking. Ruth was a member of Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church in Fayette.
Surviving Ruth in addition to her husband, Bernard “Dud”, are a son, Dan Lumbrezer of Fayette; son-in-law, Warren Black of Fayette; three grandchildren, Lindsey Smith of Columbia, SC, Jennifer (Ken) Kusz of Toledo, and Amanda Black of Fayette; and three great-grandchildren, Autumn Black, Hunter Smith, and Benjamin Kusz.
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; a son in infancy, Patrick Lumbrezer; a daughter, Vicki Black; brother and sister-in-law John (Joanne) Hartigan; and a granddaughter in infancy, Erin Black.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Ruth Lumbrezer will be held on Friday, October 19, 2012, at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church in Fayette with Father Robert Holden officiating. Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Assumption. The family will receive friends for a visitation on Thursday afternoon, from 4-8 p.m., with a vigil prayer service at 7:30 p.m., at the Eagle Funeral Home-Barrett Chapel in Fayette.
