Sandra Jean Cottrell, 75 years, of Sherwood passed away Saturday, June 9, 2018 in her residence. Sandra was born September 2, 1942 in Indianapolis, Indiana, the daughter of the late Clarence and Mathilda (Brunning) Long. She was a 1960 graduate of Warren Central High School and continued her education at Northwest State Community College. Sandra married Charles D. Cottrell on January 15, 1965 in Indianapolis, Indiana and he preceded her in death on September 2, 2013. She worked at American Greetings as a merchandiser for 21 years, retiring in October 2017. Sandra previously worked for Indiana Bell. She was a member of Sonrise Community Church. In her free time, Sandra enjoyed sewing, cooking, and caring for her grandchildren. They were her passion and greatest achievement.
Surviving are her three children, Jim (Lian) Cottrell of Fishers, Indiana, Doug (Cathy) Cottrell of Bryan, Ohio, and Carl (Jolene) Cottrell of Sherwood, Ohio; four grandchildren, Nicole Cottrell, Michaela Cottrell, Clayton Cottrell and Kyle Cottrell, and sister, Betty Zufall of North Port, Florida. Sandra was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Ashley Cottrell; three sisters, Kay Dryer, Ruth Brown, and Phyllis Miller, and two brothers, Carl Long and Stanley Long.
Visitation for Sandra Jean Cottrell will be held Thursday, June 14, 2018 from 4:00-8:00 p.m. in Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home, 230 East Elm Street, Sherwood, Ohio. Funeral Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 15, 2018 at Sonrise Community Church, 14089 State Route 249, Ney, Ohio with Pastor Tonya Kelly officiating. Interment will follow in Sherwood Cemetery.
