SANDRA E. (FORD) SAGER (1939 – 2013)

Sandra E. (Ford) Sager, 73, of Walnut St., Fayette, died Saturday morning, December 7, 2013, at her home, surrounded by her family. She was born December 11, 1939, in Wauseon, OH, to the late Ross W. and Mary F. (Miller) Ford. She married John Albert Cook in 1963, in Montpelier, OH, and he preceded her in death on July 17, 1971. She then married John F. Sager on August 4, 1975, in Wauseon, and he also preceded her in death on November 2, 2007.

Sandy was a life-long Fayette area resident, and attended Gorham-Fayette High School. One of her greatest passions in life was writing poetry. She published a collection of her poems in her book, “Lost Love Letters”, and was awarded a Merit Award from the American Poet Society. She also enjoyed reading, camping, painting, treasure hunting, and was an avid music lover. Sandy previously attended the Fayette United Methodist Church.

Surviving Sandy are two sons, Todd (Sherry) Cook of Elkhart, IN, and William Cook of Archbold, OH; four daughters, Tammy (Patrick) Kennedy of Winterhaven, FL, Mary Schuler of Tucson, AZ, Andrea “Josie” Cook of Fayette, and Heidi (Craig) Paxton of Archbold; a sister, Kathy (Gerald) Purdue of Fayette; her fiancée, Jimmy Dean Holland of Adrian, MI; 20 grandchildren, and 21 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by a son and daughter-in-law, John “Randy” (Theresa) Cook, and a son-in-law, Mark Schuler.


A funeral service for Sandy Sager will be held on Tuesday, December 10, 2013, at 2:00 p.m. at the Eagle Funeral Home-Barrett Chapel in Fayette with Jay Purdue officiating. sager_sandra - WEBInterment will follow at the Pleasant View Union Cemetery in Fayette. The family will receive friends for a visitation on Monday afternoon from 4-8 p.m.
