Sauder Village Joins The National #GivingTuesday Movement To Encourage Spending With a Purpose

November 16, 2012Updated:November 30, 2016No Comments3 Mins Read

Sauder Village has joined #GivingTuesday, a first-of-its-kind effort to harness the collective power of charities, families, businesses and individuals to transform how people think about, talk about and participate in the giving season.

Taking place on November 27, the Tuesday after Thanksgiving, #GivingTuesday seeks to leverage the power of social media to create a nationwide movement to encourage giving.

“We have a day for giving thanks and two days for getting deals,” shared Todd Sterken, Director of Development at Sauder Village. “As a non-profit organization, Sauder Village is pleased to be participating in the #GivingTuesday event – an opportunity to celebrate the giving season’s opening day. We hope #GivingTuesday will inspire people to take action to improve their local communities, give back to charities they support and help create a better world.”

For #GivingTuesday, Sauder Village is encouraging guests to help promote the mission and vision of Sauder Village, a 501c3 non-profit organization. At the Doughbox Bakery and Sauder Village Retail Shops, guests will have a chance to round up their purchase or give an amount to help support Sauder Village. Barn Restaurant patrons will also be given an opportunity to give an additional amount when paying their bill on #GivingTuesday. Donations can also be made online at the Sauder Village website: www.saudervillage.org or by calling 419.446.2541

“Sauder Village realizes the importance of giving back and we encourage our guests to make a donation on #GivingTuesday to help continue our mission,” Todd added. “Donations will support our mission of preserving the history and heritage of this region and providing educational experiences for more than 18,000 school children each season.

Sauder Village is one of nearly 1000 partner organizations already participating in the #GivingTuesday initiative. Other partner organizations in Northwest Ohio include the United Way of Greater Toledo and The Arts Commission. For information about the #GivingTuesday movement, visit www.givingtuesday.org or its Facebook page at www.facebook.com/GivingTuesday, or follow the #GivingTuesday hashtag on Twitter at https://twitter.com/GivingTues.
