VARSITY SOFTBALL
Hilltop 15, Edon 0
Bailey Funkhouser drove in four runs as the Cadet notched the BBC victory. Becca Miller added three RBI with her two singles and a home run. S. Rivera added two RBI and Allie Schmitt, Karissa Crisenbery, Ariana Brown and Julia Dunson connected for one RBI each. Aubrey Wyse was on the mound and held the Bombers to just three hits in the complete game shutout. Getting hits for Edon were Jordan Runyan, Shalyn Mason and Hannah Kaylor with one apiece. Runyan pitched all five innings for the Bombers giving up 15 runs on 12 hits while striking out two.
Holgate 15, Stryker 4
The Panthers fell behind 4-2 in the second inning and then gave up seven more runs in the third and fourth for their 11th loss. Maynard had three RBI for Stryker with a double and single. Cadwell, Ramon, Pegorch, Walters each added a single and Wonders added two singles. Tingley pitched 4.2 innings giving up 11 runs on eight hits with one strikeout. Ramon came on in the fourth and pitched the remaining 2.1 innings allowing four runs on three hits with three strikeouts.
Edgerton 9, Pettisville 6
Edgerton won this seesaw battle as Pettisville jumped out to a 4-0 lead after three innings. Edgerton crossed the plate four times to tie the game in the fourth only to have the Blackbirds go back up 5-4 with a run in the bottom of the inning. Pettisville led 6-4 after another run in the fifth inning. Edgerton scored five runs in the sixth to escape with the win. Kaija Blosser led the Blackbirds with three singles, Amber Klopfenstein and Kyra Behnfeldt had two singles and Andrea Flory, Sydney Purtee, Sami Tilley and Jaelyn Rufenacht each had one single. Behnfeldt took the loss pitching the complete game and giving up nine runs on nine hi ts and struck out three. Megan Rowe was the winning pitcher working three innings. She gave up one run on five hits with one strikeout. Rowe and Shayla Sleesman had a single and double for Edgerton.
Wauseon 3, North Central 1
The Indians scored all three of their runs in the first inning then held off the Eagles for the non-league win. The Indians three RBI were shared by Ally Tefft, Oliviah Banister and Hayley Chamberlin. Tefft led the assault with two hits. Tefft pitched four innings for the winners giving up one run on three hits while striking out four. Shelt pitched the remaining three innings and struck out seven while allowing no hits. Makayla Hayes hit a solo homer for the Eagles that produced their only RBI. Addie Elser and Makayla Knapp added single for North Central’s two other hits. Hayes took the loss pitching six innings and allowing three runs on five hits with four strikeouts.
VARSITY BASEBALL
Wauseon 7, Toledo Christian 2
Wauseon had a 3-2 lead and then scored three runs in the sixth and one more in the seven for the non-league win. CJ Moser finished with two RBI while Josh Whitcomb, Carter Bzovi, Brady Rupp and Brooks Gype finished with one each. Whitcomb was three for three at the plate with a trio of singles. Marcel Barajas pitched all seven innings for the Indians and gave up two runs on five hits with four strikeouts.
Edon 5, Hilltop 1
The Bombers held Hilltop scoreless until the top of the seventh inning to gain the BBC victory.
Edon was led at the plate by Carson Brandt’s two singles a double and two RBI. Preston Klingler added two singles and Hayden Runyon added a single along with Landon Bloir and Levi Brandt. Hilltop got two singles from Tyler Suboski and two singles and a RBI from Quinn Smith. Bloir was the winning pitcher giving up one run on six hits while striking out 10. Nic Schieber took the loss for Hilltop pitching six innings giving up five runs on eight hits with two strikeouts.
Montpelier 5, Morenci 1
The Locomotives connected for 10 hits holding Morenci scoreless over the last four innings to gain the non-league win. Six Montpelier batters led the assault with Kolden Uribes finishing three for four and three singles. Gunnar Matson was two for three with two singles, Andrew Luke was one for two with a double, Colin Rockey finished one for three with a single, Wyatt Beck one for three with a double, and Jimmy Kelley two for three with a single and double. Luke got the complete game victory allowing one run on four hits with five strikeouts.
Stryker 9, Pettisville 2
The Blackbirds tied the game in the top of the fifth 1-1 but the Panthers erupted for seven runs in the bottom of the fifth for the BBC win. Benson and Shock led Stryker at the plate finishing 2 for two and two for three respectively. Christian Barhite was two for two for Pettisville while Justin Rupp and Dillon King were one for three. Landon Roth finished one for two. Shock got the win for Stryker pitching the complete game and allowing two runs on five hits with 10 strikeouts. Barhite took the loss pitching five innings and giving up seven runs on five hits while striking out five. Evan King pitched .2 inning for Pettsville allowing two runs on two hits and Dillon King pitched 1.1 innings allowing no runs and no hits.
Archbold 4, Fairview 0
Brandon Miller improved his record to 4-1 with a five hit shut out over Fairview. Bryce Williams finished two for three with one RBI for the Bluestreaks. Toby Walker added two RBi on one for four hitting and Ian Radabaugh finished one for three with one RBI. Ben Bucklew added a double for Archbold who has won seven of their last eight games.
