Scoring Summary,  May 11, 2016

VARSITY SOFTBALL

North Central 10, Edon 9

After the Eagles shut the Bombers out through four innings of play, Edon stormed back with three runs in each of the fifth, sixth and seventh innings but it was too little too late. North Central’s two seventh-inning runs were what they needed to hold off the hard charging Bombers. North Central chalked up 11 hits during the contest. Three of those came from the bat of Tristen Tomblin as she finished with two singles and a double that drove in one run. Alyssa Swank, Makayla Knapp and Kelsie Sutton had two hits apiece and Addie Eiser and Sidney Mckarns contributed with one hit apiece. Sutton was the top RBI getter with two.  Makayla Haynes pitched the complete game as the Eagles’ pitcher allowed nine runs on five hits while striking out 10. Edon’s nine runs came on five hits led by Shalyn Mason with two singles and one RBI. Sara Hiller, A. Maier and Zoe Neubig had one single apiece for the Bombers. Faith Livensparger led in the RBI category with two. Jordan Runyan and Mason shared pitching duties as Runyan took the loss pitching three innings and allowing seven runs on five hit with one strikeout. Mason pitched four innings and allowed three runs on six hits with six strikeouts.

Wauseon 10, Toledo Central Catholic 0 (DIVISION II SECTIONAL)


The Indians enjoyed scoring runs in each of the six innings as they dominated in the first round of the Division II Sectional contest. Alisa Shelt threw the three-hit shutout as she, like her team dominated the Irish. Shelt added to that, eight strikeouts.  Shelt then helped her own cause offensively as she led the Indians with three RBI on three hits including two single and a triple and scored two runs. Ana Lozano added a pair of RBI and one hit. Ally Tefft finished with two hits with one RBI and Maddie Martinez had one hit and one RBI.  The Indians next travel to Lake High School to take on Lake at 5pm Friday, May 13th .

Pettisville 14, Fayette 0

The Blackbirds jumped out to a 7-0 first inning lead and got a shutout performance by pitcher Kyra Behnfeldt as they won their sixth BBC contest against four losses. After four more runs in the fifth the game ended. Behnfeldt gave up just one hit and struck out four in the dominate performance from the mound. Offensively, the Blackbirds were just as good as Sydney Partee finished with a triple, Kaia Flosser and Andrea Flory had doubles, Brittney Sauder contributed with two singles and Amber Klopfenstein, Behnfeldt, Marissa Beck and Jaelyn Reenact finished with one single apiece.  Dakota Flosser was the losing pitcher giving up 10 runs on six hits while striking out two.  Kaitlin Brubaker and Hayley Burkholder had singles for Fayette.

VARSITY BASEBALL

Edon 2, Hilltop 1 (8)  (DIVISION IV SECTIONAL)


The Bombers tied the game 1-1 in the bottom of the seventh and won the game in the bottom of the eighth adding a run in each. Landon Bloir was exceptional on the mound for the Bombers. The Edon ace gave up one run on two hits and struck out 18 earning the win. Hilltop’s Quinn Smith was stellar on the mound also as he gave up two runs on four hits while striking out three. The Bombers moved to 14-3 overall with the help of Colten Lymon who had two singles and one run. Levi Brandt finished with a single and a RBI and scored one run while Carson Brandt had a single with one RBI. Cole Haynes and Nic Schieber singled for Hilltop. With the win, Edon advances to the Archbold District where they will meet the winner of Stryker vs Patrick Henry at 7pm on Wednesday, May 18th.
