VARSITY GOLF

Fayette 168, Montpelier 205

Noah Brinegar shot a round of 39 to lead the Eagles to the BBC victory played at Patriot Hills. Tharyn Colegrove (42), Tanner Lemley (43), Travis Wagner (44), Brett Merillat (48), Jaryd White (52) also contributed in a big way to the win. Individual scores turned in by Montpelier included: Garrett Witte (48), Aaron Stoy (50), Brock O’Neil (51), Roman Sommer (56), Bradin Saneholtz (57), Tyler Rupp (59).

 

North Central 191, Antwerp 193, Pettisville 229.

Chace Boothman of North Central earns medalist honors with a score of 45.  Others were as follows: David Pinc (48), Allyson Hutchison (49), Landon Patten (49), Brock Zuver (51). Jack Bailey (60). The Blackbirds finishers included: Austin Horning (52), Josh Graber (56), Drew Canada (59), Graeme Jacoby (62), Dalton Meyer (63).

 

Delta 182, Wauseon 184

Three golfers tied for medalist honors in this NWOAL dual match. Jay Vann and Drew Mattin of Delta along with Wauseon’s CJ Moser all carded rounds of 40. The Panthers supporting cast was stronger led by: Cole Mattin (50), Brady Wymer (52), Chase Sandusky (53), Chris Brick (61). The Indians, short by just two strokes had the following rounds: Trent Armstrong (45), Caleb Leu (47), Eric Parker (52), Logan Blackman (70).

 

Bryan 179, Liberty Center 194, Swanton 197

Swanton’s Austin Luce was the medalist with a round of 41 but it was the Golden Bears who claimed the pair of NWOAL wins. Bryan was led by Peyton Lamberson with a round of  43. Other Bryan scores included: Owen Beaver (44), Connor Shirkey (46), Case Hartman (46), Conner Lemons (48), Andrew Heller (49). Following Luce for the Bulldogs were: Carter Swank (45), Brady Lemons (53), Randy Slink (56), Raymond Schad (58), Andrew LaPoint (71).

 

VARSITY VOLLEYBALL

Bryan defeated Delta 18-25 18-25 7-25.

 

Fayette downs Montpelier 25-23, 14-25, 25-20, 25-22

The Eagles netted a BBC win over the Locomotives to move to 2-2 in conference play and 2-5 overall. Fayette was led by Kelsey Fruchey’s 2 aces, 9/10 serving, 17 digs, 16 kills. Bailee Smith contributed finishing with 18/18 serving, 21 digs, 11 kills.

 

North Central wins in five sets over Stryker

The Eagles battled hard to down the Panthers in a BBC match with scores of 27-25, 20-25, 25-16, 21-25, 15-13. North Central senior, Makayla Hayes, had a standout match as the finished with 33 hits and 19 kills with 42 good passes and eight digs. Alyssa Swank with 18 serves with one ace also was a key contributor to the Eagles success. Stryker was led by: Darci O’Neil with 16/21 hitting,  9 kills, 16/18 serving with 1 ace, 6 digs.  Brooklyn Whitlock joined in with 18/20 hitting including 7 kills,  18 digs,  17/18 serving with 5 aces.

 

Pettisville downs Hilltop

The Blackbirds needed just three sets to defeat the Cadets with scores of 25-17, 25-6, 25-23. Pettisville was paced by Jesse Youse who was 16/17 hitting with 12 kills, 14/15 serving with three aces. Teagan Kauffman who finished 26/29 hitting with 11 kills, 6/7 serving with one ace also played a key role in the victory. Ariana Brown scored five points for Hilltop and finished 8/9 serving, 9/9 passing, 14/16 attacks.

 

Edon loses in three sets to Antwerp

Edon varsity was defeated by Antwerp scores were  23-25, 15-25, 11-25. Overall record falls to 2-7 to go with their record of  2-2 in the BBC.  The Bombers were led by the play of Shaylee Manahan, Sara Hiller and Hannah Kaylor who finished with four kills apiece. Manahan added one service ace.

 

JUNIOR VARSITY VOLLEYBALL

Stryker defeated North Central with scores of 20-25, 25-22, 25-27.

 

Hilltop were winners over Pettisville 25-17, 25-15.

 

Edon was defeated by Antwerp scores were 18-25, 21-25. Overall record 3-6 and 5-0 in BBC.

 

FRESHMEN VOLLEYBALL

Edon freshman was defeated by Antwerp scores were: 26-24, 13-25. Overall record is 2-1.

 

JUNIOR HIGH VOLLEYBALL

North Central 7th grade defeated Stryker 25-4 and 25-13. They are now 4-0 overall and 4-0 in the BBC.  The 8th grade team also defeated Stryker 24-26, 25-17, 25-13 and are now 2-2 overall and 2-2 in the BBC.

 

Hilltop 7th graders defeated Pettisville 25-21, 25-15.

Hilltop was a winner in the 8th grade match with scores of 25-14, 25-7.

 

GIRLS VARSITY SOCCER

Bryan 2, Lima Shawnee 2

The Golden Bears (1-2-2, 1-1 NWOAL) tied visiting Lima Shawnee. Bryan’s goals came from Junior Gracie Voigt and Senior Emily Gorzelanczyk. Senior MyKenzi Greenler recorded an assist.

 

Archbold 12, Toledo Christian 0

The Blue Streaks improved to 3-1 overall with the lopsided win. Emie Peterson led the assault with three goals. Other scorers for Archbold included: Andi Peterson and Naomi Rodriguez with two goals apiece and Kamryn Hostetler, Kennedy Miner, Brooke Kohler, Chloe Nofziger and Shylo Richardson with one apiece. Chloe Nofziger, Lexa Richardson and Riley Johnston each finished with two assists.

 

Wauseon 4, Oak Harbor 4

The Indians battled to the very end and finished with a deadlock against the Oak Harbor Rockets of the Sandusky Bay Conference  Wauseon’s first goal came at the 17:39 mark of the first half. Kendra Gorczyca found the net on an assist from Torri Bost. Jadelyn Vasvery scored the hat trick in the contest as scored three goals for the Tribe. She was good on an attempt at the 29:29 mark of the second half and then followed that on two more with assists from Bost with 13:30 remaining and the second coming with 9:01 remaining in the game. Oak Harbor Tied the game with just 13 seconds left.

 

BOYS VARSITY SOCCER

Delta 2, Maumee Country Valley Day 2

 

Delta hosted Maumee Valley Country Day (MVCD). Both teams came out strong in the first half but Delta’s Jared Gliders scored the first goal only four minutes into the half. Neither team gave up though and MVCD scored to tie it up with 29 minutes into the half. MVCD did not wait long into the second half to put a second goal in. Delta did not give up and fought hard all through the second half. Payton Webster went to cross the ball back in off a corner kick and put it in the far corner off the goal with Logan Albring on the assist ending the game with the tie. Delta’s Cade Long had 12 saves from the net and kept up team moral.

 

Pettisville 7, Wauseon 1

The Blackbirds scored quick and often to run the lead to 4-0 at the break. Scoring for Pettisville included: Detric Yoder with a pair of goals; Connor Wyse, Justin Rupp, Eugene Degli-Esposti, Canidate Vickery and  Zach Morrison added one apiece.  Aaron Spieles scored Wauseon’s goal in the second half with a penalty kick.  Pettisville took 16 shots on goal to Wauseon’s one.

 

VARSITY TENNIS

Ottawa Hills 5, Archbold 0

The Streaks were outplayed by Ottawa Hills as the always tough Green Bears’ squad swept through for the shutout. In first singles Caroline Kinsman was defeated 0-6, 1-6. Itzy Gaona matched that score as she was stopped in third singles. Belle Clark dropped the second singles match with scores of 0-6, 0-6. The doubles matches were frustrating as well as Darby Stevens and Isabel Krieger lost 1-6, 0-6 in first doubles and Morgan Perry ad Amanda Payne lost with the same scores of 1-6, 0-6.
