Second Dollar General Store A Possibility For Archbold

A new Dollar General Store is in the works for the community of Archbold. According to Archbold Mayor Brad Grime, Dollar General has been in contact with the village for the past five months.

The company is currently trying to acquire land on the west side of town on Route 2. They have also submitted site plans to the village for approval.

Mayor Grime explained that at this point, the possibility of a new Dollar General Store coming into town is around 80%.

He continued to explain that Village Council, the Planning Commission and Zoning Board are discussing the proposal and will ultimately make the final decision.

Discussions have been taking place with the company which have led to several agreements being made with the village. One such agreement is for the building to be built entirely of brick instead of only partially.

With more discussions still yet to take place, nothing is yet final as there are issues that need to be taken care of first before a new store is built.

One such issue is that the area where the store will be built, will need to be annexed first. Traffic issues will also have to be worked on for the intersections near that area as well.

The company is still moving forward though and has plans to start construction in the spring or summer of this year if everything is approved.
