Fulton County First Responder Agencies rolled out the red carpet for local children this past weekend.
On Saturday, December 16th, approximately 171 children from 29 families were able to be served this year by a program that is hosted by the Wauseon Police Department.
Police and fire departments from across the county participated in the event and even drove children to Wal-Mart with their lights and sirens on.
The procession of police cars, fire trucks and ambulances lasted around five minutes from the time the first of nearly 60 emergency vehicles began to turn into the parking lot.
Before the procession began, children and their families met to check in and engage in fellowship with the first responders who would be accompanying them for the day.
At the store, the children gleefully stood for a group picture, before heading out to purchase Christmas gifts.
Each of the children were given a $150.00 Wal-Mart gift card that they could use to buy gifts. The money given to the children was raised through this year’s Christmas for Kids program.
Christmas for Kids in Fulton County helps to reinforce the idea of sharing and giving, which promotes the idea that role models of all ages are important to the development of our area’s youth.
Donations given from people throughout the year help to achieve the goal of spreading cheer and helping those children who need it.
