Mayor Dave Borer announced the details for a number of events during the May 26, 2021 Fayette Village Council meeting. Spring Clean Up will be held on June 19, at a cost of $30 for “one roll of the truck.”
That is roughly the equivalent of a regular sized pickup truck load and village residents are welcome to purchase more than one. All items need to be set out where trash is normally placed, no later than 7 a.m. on the nineteenth.
Residents who want to participate need to sign up at the Village office and can do so right up through June 18 at 5 p.m. This can be paid by cash or check, payable to ARS.
Flyers with all instructions have been sent with water bills and the info is on the bulletin board at the village office.
A Blood Drive is scheduled for June 29 from 1- 6 p.m. at the Fayette United Methodist Church, in the Family Life Center.
For an appointment, please visit redcrossblood.org or call 1-800-733-2767. The last special announcement was that the Bean Creek Candy Shop, located at History Center at 118 W. Main St. in Fayette, will be open on Fridays from 1-5 and Saturdays from 9-12.
(He mentioned that they have old fashioned candy as well as home made candies.) Delta Chicken Festival is on July 10 and the mayor asked anyone who wants to ride in the parade to let him know.
Council voted to approve the agenda, the minutes for May 12 council meeting and for May 19 Public Works and Finance Committee. Readings were suspended and passage approved for two ordinances:
Ordinance 2021-07 An ordinance authorizing and directing the Village Administrator to Execute a purchase agreement for the purchase of real property, authorizing the Village Administrator to perform all necessary acts to effectuate the purchase agreement and declaring an emergency; and Ordinance 2021-08 An ordinance authorizing a Cooperative Agreement for planning of a Water Project between the village of Fayette and the Ohio Water Development Authority and declaring an emergency.
In the Village Administrator’s Report, Genna Biddix informed council that she had “inundated Public Works with a bunch of information last week.” She is still working on all of those items. There was a revised letter given to council for Public Works for them to adjust or approve.
She said she has been very busy with Zoning. Council voted to approve her report and moved on to the VFO report, with Karin Sauerlender reporting.
Sauerlender reported that a number of additional items had come in, spoke shortly about the two ordinances, and said that she has been informed by the Bureau of Workmen’s Comp that they have lowered the claims limit for eligibility for Group rating program.
Due to that, Fayette will not be eligible for the group rate for the next year. The two largest, oldest claims will drop off at the end of 2021, so she believes they will then again be eligible. A letter from RITA has come stating that the village will be getting a partial refund for the 20-21 retainer. Council approved her report.
In other action, Council voted to approve a motion to hire Clay Tobias as a full-time Public Works employee at $19 an hour and to grant him forty hours of vacation time for 2021 effective June 7, 2021.
Also approved was a motion to hire Trey Keefer as a part-time Seasonal employee at $11.47 per hour effective immediately. The payment of bills was approved as well.
With no further business, the meeting adjourned at 6:20 p.m.
