Harding Township – The Toledo Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal crash on Old State Line Road near Wilkins Road in Harding Township, Lucas County.
The crash occurred sometime in the overnight hours of August 28th, and was discovered this morning around 7:24 a.m.
The preliminary investigation shows a maroon 1994 Dodge Dakota, operated by Michael A. Dennis, 42, of Monclova, Ohio, was driving westbound on Old State Line Road near Wilkins Road.
Mr. Dennis drove left of center, drove off the left side of the roadway, struck a utility pole, and then came to rest in a soybean field. Mr. Dennis was pronounced deceased on scene.
Alcohol and failure to wear a safety belt are suspected factors in this crash, and the crash remains under investigation.
Troopers were assisted at the scene by the Lucas County Sheriff’s Office, Lucas County Coroner’s Office, Springfield Township Fire & EMS, and Jerry’s Towing.
