(February 28th, 2015) – PAULDING: Ironically, Stryker’s season ended at the hands of the same team in which it began.

After advancing to the Sectional Finals, the Lady Panthers had to go through Holgate if they wished to make it to districts. These two squads played to open up their respective seasons, with the Lady Tigers defeating the Stryker girls 70-48.

That 22 point margin of defeat would come back to haunt Stryker, as they fell to Holgate 45-23.

The Panthers would struggle mightily in the first quarter, scoring just 3 points in that span. Holgate put up 12 points in the period. In the second quarter, the girls from Stryker would find themselves outscored 10-6. Going into the half, the Panthers faced a 22-9 deficit.

Stryker played solid defense in the third stanza, holding the Tigers to 9 points. They just couldn’t get their offense going, only mustering 6 points in that same span. Down the stretch, Holgate was able to close out the contest, thanks to a 14-8 effort in the fourth quarter.

Taylor Haines and Audra Rupp tied for the role of lead scorer for the Lady Panthers. The former, a sophomore, and the latter, a junior, each had 6 points in the loss. Freshman teammate Haley Doehrmann contributed 5 points, while senior Maddie Uribes added 4 points as well.
