Stryker Local Schools Prepares For Start Of New School Year

It’s hard to believe, but the start of the 2016-17 school year is just around the corner.
The Stryker Local Schools fall sports season first day of practice is Aug. 1, with the first day of school Aug. 17.
Other dates of note include:
New Staff Orientation 9 – 11:30 a.m. Aug. 3
Student class schedules may be picked up from 9 a.m. to noon and 1-3 p.m. according to the following schedule:
Aug. 4 – new students and seniors
Aug. 5 – Freshmen, sophomores and juniors.
Aug. 9 – junior high students.
Fall sports picture day begins at 3 p.m. Aug. 10.
Teacher work day will be followed by an Open House from 4-6 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 16.
The Board approved a “Then & Now” certificate to Toledo Edison in the amount of $8,624.30
The Board approved to establish change funds for the 2016-17 school year in the following amounts:
Athletic – $800, Cafeteria – $60, High School – $100, Elementary – $100 and Jr. Class – $250
The Board approved to establish fund 300-950T for Stryker Track
The Board approved the Student Activity and Athletic Purpose and budgets statements.
The Board approved the following transfer of funds of $15,000 from General Fund to the Cafeteria Fund.
The Board approved the “Then and Now” Certificate to Huntington National Bank in the amount of $100,755 for the Series A and Series B Bonds.

The Board approved the following Supplemental Contracts for the 2016-2017 School year, as presented:
Football Assistant
Lucas Goebel
Ninth grade Boys Basketball
Nathanael Meuschke

The Board approved the re-assignment of Tracy Frank to supervisor of building, grounds and transportation for three years, effective Aug. 1.
The Board approved the Overnight/Extended trip for the Year Book class to attend the Kenyon College Yearbook Conference, July 18-20, Gambier.
The next BOE meeting is 6:30 p.m. Aug. 15 in the HS Art Room.
