STRYKER: May 10-The Stryker Panthers opened post season play at home on May 10, taking on Antwerp from the Green Meadows Conference. Behind the strong pitching of Junior Parker Ruffer, the Panthers came out on top in a 4-1 takedown of the Antwerp Archers, with Ruffer allowing just 1 hit on the day to advance to second round play.
Ruffer’s day on the mound was near perfect in the game, striking out 16 Archer batters and allowing just 3 base on balls in the victory. Additionally, Ruffer’s day at the plate helped his cause, going 1 for 2 and taking 2 walks in the victory.
Offensively for the Stryker Panthers, Chad Ruffer also had a big day with a 2 for 4 performance at the plate driving in 2 RBI’s. Zach Tingley connected on 2 out of 3 trips to the plate, scoring a run while Dean Beamont and Jacob Hancock hit for sacrifices with each driving in an RBI. Freshman Colton Benson had a huge afternoon with a 2 for 4 effort at the plate, and Brody Shock rounded out the production for the Panthers in the victory.
With the victory, Stryker will advance to the Sectional Finals of Wednesday, May 14 at Ayersville to take on the host Pilots at 5:00 P.M.
