Stryker School Board: Date Set For 2022 Organizational Meeting

Stryker Board of Education met on December 13, 2021 to wrap up the year. Treasurer Jill Peters reported that the General Fund Cash balance for November 2021 was $8,175,471.74; Total Revenue was $265,240.58; and the Total Expenses were $695,164.55.

Donations received included $600 from Kent Wolff Annual Memorial Golf Scramble for the Stryker Golf Fund; $800 from Darren Pash/GWS for athletic schedules; $50 from M. Kidston for Stryker Girls Basketball; and $80 from C. Whewell for Stryker Girls Basketball.

Peterson also recommended that the Board approve the “Resolution accepting the amounts and rates as determined by the Budget Commission and Authorizing the Necessary tax. Levies and certifying them to the County Auditor.” The board approved her full report and recommendations.


Dean of Students, Beth Morr, reported that the Christmas program held on December 10 had standing room only. The Elementary PBIS are making ornaments for the Stryker Senior Center and Nursing homes as well as decorating (to eat) cookies that they got to bake.

The baking of the cookies was done by the fourth graders and was supported by the foundation. There will be Early Dismissal on December 16, at 1:05, which is also the end of the first nine weeks of school.

December 17 will be a Teacher Workday and Christmas Break is scheduled for December 18-January 3, when the second nine weeks begins.


The Spelling Bee will be held on January 9 and the County Spelling Bee will be hosted by Stryker on January 24.

Principal Dave Shultz reported that January events include:

-January 3 Cyber Safety Administration for HS students during the 1st period of the day
-January 4 Grades are all due by 8 a.m.
-Jan 6 Spelling Bee for Grades 5-8 will be held on stage at 9 a.m.
-January 7 Grade Cards available online
-January 14 Battle of the Classes in the afternoon will be held in the Gym
-January 15 Homecoming at 5:30 prior to the basketball game
-January 17 PD Day for staff, No Students as it is Martin Luther King Day


Superintendent Nate Johnson received approval for the following recommendations:

-Supplemental Contract for 21-22 school year for Darian Schnitkey Assistant Track
-Classified Certified substitutes – Olivia Breininger
-Approve the NEOLA New, revised, updated policies and related administrative guidelines.

Plans were made for the Organizational Meeting to be held on Wednesday, January 12 at 5 p.m. with the regular January Board meeting to follow.

The Board appointed Jason Leupp as President Pro-Tem for the organizational meeting.

Mr. Johnson said he will send out a calendar to the board members for the board to set the 2022 meeting dates. The meeting adjourned at 5:44.
