Swanton Library Announces April Schedule Of Events

Mondays, April 11, 18, and 25 from 10:15 am to 11:45 am – Beginning Yoga. This class is slightly more advanced than Intro to Yoga, offering students an opportunity to expand their skill level. Class fee is $10.00 per session with multi-session tickets available. Students are asked to bring a yoga mat and towel and to wear comfortable clothing.

Tuesdays, April 5 and 26 at 10:30 am – Storytime. Weekly classes offered at Swanton Library for children ages 6 months to 5 years. Children will explore the outdoors through stories, music, and crafts. Free. No registration required.

Wednesdays, April 6 and 27 at 4:00 pm – Storytime. Weekly classes offered at Swanton Library for children ages 1 to 5 years. Children will explore the outdoors through stories, music, and crafts. Free. No registration required.

Wednesday, April 6 at 4:45 pm – Board of Library Teens (BOLT) meeting. New members welcome!


Thursdays, April 7, 14, 21, and 28 from 10:15 am to 11:45 am – Intro to Yoga. Join us for a series of yoga classes taught by Aimee Strohbeck. Please bring a yoga mat and towel and wear comfortable clothing for easy movement. No experience necessary. Class fee is by donation with proceeds benefiting the library.

Thursdays, April 7, 14, 21, and 28 from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm – Chair Yoga. This class involves the same poses done in other yoga classes, but modified to make them gentler while sitting or sometimes standing with a chair for balance and support. Class fee is $5. No yoga mat is required for this class.

Mondays, April 11, 18, and 25 from 6:00 pm to 7:15 pm – Mixed Hatha Yoga Level 1 and 2. This class is safe for most beginners and focuses on yoga for stress and anxiety relief, learning to relax and calm the mind, and improving flexibility, balance, physical, and mental strength. Students are asked to bring a yoga mat and towel and to wear comfortable clothing. Class cost is $10.


Wednesdays, April 13 and April 27 from 4:00 pm to 5:30 pm – Anime Club for grades 6-12. Join us to watch three episodes of anime(s) chosen by the attendees. Food and drinks will also be provided. Participants are welcome to come in cosplay, anime or otherwise. Free!
Wednesday, April 13 between 4:00 pm and 7:00 pm – Cholesterol Screening. Fulton County Health Center will do quick cholesterol screenings at the library. With just a finger prick and a $5.00 donation, you can learn your total HDL (good cholesterol level), your good-to-bad cholesterol ratio, and your glucose level (blood sugar). No appointment is needed, just walk in.

Thursday, April 14 at 7:00 pm – Adult book discussion led by Marty Kaback. This month’s topic is The Last Pilot by Benjamin Johncock.

Friday, April 15 – The library is closed for staff training.

Saturday, April 16 from 10:30 am to 11:30 am – The ABC’s of Movement. Preschoolers and kindergartners and their families are invited to join Laurie Gombash (PT, Med) for a program combining movement and literacy into FUN learning activities! Visit www.ABCsof Movement.com to learn more about the program. Attending families will receive a FREE set of activity cards. This free program is sponsored by FOSPL. Registration required; 25 family spots available. Call the library or stop by to register.


Monday, April 18 at 7:00 pm – Swanton Public Library Board of Trustees regular monthly meeting. Open to the public.

Thursday, April 21 from 10:00 am to noon – Medicare, Social Security, and Retirement Assistance. Valerie Edwards of the Fulton County Senior Center will work with individuals with questions pertaining to the above. Appointments are required – to schedule your free consultation, contact the Senior Center at 419-337-9299.

Thursday, April 21 from 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm – Cardmaking Classes. Our series of cardmaking classes, led by Anna Geis, continues in April with Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, and thank you cards. The fee is $5.00 for 3 cards. Children 8 and older are welcome when accompanied by an adult. Registration is required. Please call 419-826-2760 to register, or register online.

Saturday, April 23, 10:30 am to 11:15 am – Jumping for Jellybeans for grades K-5. Celebrate National Jellybean Day at the library with silly jellybean games, jellybean crafts, and of course lots of jellybeans to eat. Register online or call 419-826-2760. Free!

Saturday, April 30 from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm – Babysitting Clinic. Fulton County Health Center will teach this clinic at the library. Participants must be at least 11-years-old to attend. Participants who complete the training will be certified in babysitting through the Fulton County Health Center (does not include CPR training). Registration is required in advance and includes a $20.00 class fee. Checks are made payable to Fulton County Health Center. Class size is limited to 20. Bring a sack lunch. Beverages and a snack will be provided.
