Swanton Library Announces February Schedule Of Events

Wednesdays, February 8, and 15 at 4:00 pm – Storytime. Weekly classes offered at Swanton Library for children ages 1 to 5 years. Children will read to the beat through stories, music, and crafts. Free. No registration required.

Thursdays, February 9, 16, and 23 from 10:15 am to 11:45 am – Intro to Yoga. Join us for a series of yoga classes taught by Aimee Strohbeck. Please bring a yoga mat and towel and wear comfortable clothing for easy movement. No experience necessary. Class fee is by donation with proceeds benefiting the library.

Thursdays, February 9, 16, and 23 from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm – Chair Yoga. This class involves the same poses done in other yoga classes, but modified to make them gentler while sitting or sometimes standing with a chair for balance and support. Class fee is $5. No yoga mat is required for this class.

Mondays, February 6, 13, and 27 from 10:15 am to 11:45 am – Beginning Yoga. This class is slightly more advanced than the Thursday morning yoga class, offering students an opportunity to expand their skill level. Class fee is $10.00 per session with multi-session tickets available. Please bring a yoga mat and towel and wear comfortable clothing. There will be no class on February 20.

Mondays, February 6, 13, and 27 from 7:00 pm to 8:15 pm – Evening Yoga. Class fee is $10.00 per session with multi-session tickets available. Students are asked to bring a yoga mat and towel and to wear comfortable clothing. There will be no class on February 20.


Mondays, February 6 and 13 at 4:30 pm – Music & Movement. Music and movement are tied together with literacy in this family series on Monday afternoons. Sing, dance, play instruments, and read! Focus is on preschool and early grades, but the entire family is welcome. Free!

Tuesdays, February 7 and 14 at 10:30 am – Storytime. Weekly classes offered at Swanton Library for children ages 6 months to 5 years. Children will read to the beat through stories, music, and crafts. Free. No registration required.

Wednesday, February 8 at 4:30 pm – Board of Library Teens (BOLT) meeting. New members welcome!


Thursday, February 9 at 7:00 pm – Adult book discussion led by Marty Kaback. This month’s topic is the novel The Aviator’s Wife by Melanie Benjamin. Copies are available at the front desk.

Wednesday, February 15 from 4:00 pm to 5:30 pm – After-Valentine’s Day Party. Not in a relationship? Or just don’t care about all that romance stuff? Come to the library for a party all about celebrating friendship instead of romance – and sweets! We’ll have cookies to decorate, funny videos to watch, and silly icebreaker games to play. If you can, bring candy or other little gifts with you to exchange with friends. Everyone is welcome, single or not. Registration is not required. FREE!

Thursday, February 16 from 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm – Cardmaking. Our ongoing series of cardmaking classes with instructor Anna Geis continues in February with some wonderful ‘fancy folds’ cards. A $5.00 supply fee covers three cards. Children 8 years and older are welcome when accompanied by an adult. Registration is required; please call us at 419-826-2760, come in, or visit our website.

Saturday, February 18 at 10:30 am – Break for Cupcakes for grades K-5. Love cupcakes? Who doesn’t! Come to the library to celebrate this tasty treat with cupcake stories, games, and of course, decorating your very own cupcakes! Register online, at the front desk, or by phone.


Monday, February 20 – The library is closed in observance of the holiday.

Tuesday, February 21 at 7:00 pm – Swanton Public Library Board of Trustees meeting. This is a change from the regularly scheduled date and time. The public is welcome to attend.

Wednesday, February 22 from 4:00 pm to 5:30 pm – Anime Club for grades 6-12. This month, we’ll try different types of pocky along with other snacks and drinks, and watch three episodes of anime chosen by the attendees. Free!

Friday, February 24 & Saturday, February 25 from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm; Sunday, February 26 from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm – Cabin Fever Reliever Used Books/Media Sale in the Swanton Library Children’s Room. All types of reading! Movies! Music! Make a donation for your selections. Proceeds benefit library programs.

Saturday, February 25 from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm – Popup Card Creation. Join our own crafty expert, Gail Phipps, to learn how to create fun, colorful popup cards using construction paper and other craft supplies. Adults and children 12 years and older are welcome. Registration for this free class is required; please come in, call, or visit our website.
