Swanton Library Announces November Schedule Of Events

Thursdays, November 10, and 17 from 10:15 am to 11:45 am – Intro to Yoga. Join us for a series of yoga classes taught by Aimee Strohbeck. Please bring a yoga mat and towel and wear comfortable clothing for easy movement. No experience necessary. Class fee is by donation with proceeds benefiting the library. There will be no class on November 24.

Thursdays, November 10, and 17 from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm – Chair Yoga. This class involves the same poses done in other yoga classes, but modified to make them gentler while sitting or sometimes standing with a chair for balance and support. Class fee is $5. No yoga mat is required for this class. There will be no class on November 24.

Mondays, November 14, 21, and 28 from 10:15 am to 11:45 am – Beginning Yoga. This class is slightly more advanced than the Thursday morning yoga class, offering students an opportunity to expand their skill level. Class fee is $10.00 per session with multi-session tickets available. Please bring a yoga mat and towel and wear comfortable clothing.

Mondays, November 14, 21, 28, December 5 and 12 at 4:30 pm – Music & Movement. Music and movement are tied together with literacy in this family series on Monday afternoons. Sing, dance, play instruments, and read! Focus is on preschool and early grades, but the entire family is welcome. Free!


Mondays, November 14, 21, and 28 from 7:00 pm to 8:15 pm – Evening Yoga. Class fee is $10.00 per session with multi-session tickets available. Students are asked to bring a yoga mat and towel and to wear comfortable clothing.

Tuesdays, November 15, 22, 29, December 6 and 13 at 10:30 am – Storytime. Weekly classes offered at Swanton Library for children ages 6 months to 5 years. Children will learn about vegetables and fruits through stories, music, and crafts. Free. No registration required.

Wednesdays, November 16, 23, 30, December 7 and 14 at 4:00 pm – Storytime. Weekly classes offered at Swanton Library for children ages 1 to 5 years. Children will learn about vegetables and fruits through stories, music, and crafts. Free. No registration required.


Thursday, November 10 at 7:00 pm – Adult book discussion led by Marty Kaback. This month’s topic is the novel In a Dark, Dark Wood by Ruth Ware. Copies are available at the front desk.

Saturday, November 12 from 10:30 am to 11:15 am – Fall Fun for grades K-5. Celebrate fall at the library this month! We’ll read fall stories, play games, make an autumn snack, and do an autumn scavenger hunt (weather permitting). Please register online, at the front desk, or by phone. Free.

Wednesday, November 16 from 4:00 pm to 5:30 pm – Anime Club for grades 6-12. Join us to watch three episodes of anime(s) chosen by the attendees and make armbands. Popcorn, food, and drinks will also be provided. Participants are welcome to come in cosplay, anime or otherwise. Teens who just completed these grades are invited. Free!

Thursday, November 17 from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm – Attention Seniors! Medicare open enrollment runs from October 15 through December 7. This is the time period when changes to Medicare plans can be made. If you need help with these changes or have questions about insurance, bill paying, applications, or assistance programs, set up an appointment with Val Edwards from the Fulton County Senior Center. Call 419-337-9299 to schedule an appointment.


Thursday, November 17 from 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm – Diabetes Prevention. Join us at the library on for a presentation by Susan Dittes, manager of the diabetes education department at FCHC. Ms. Dittes will provide information and suggestions for managing and controlling pre-diabetes. This free program is open to all. Please call 419-826-2760, stop at the desk, or go online to register.

Monday, November 21 at 7:00 pm – Swanton Public Library Board of Trustees regular monthly meeting. Open to the public.
