The Swanton Local School District Board of Education is seeking a new member with the pending departure of Kris Oberheim.

According to a release from the district, qualified individuals can apply to fill the seat for the term beginning January 2026, as no candidate filed to run for the position in the election earlier this month.

“Community members interested in serving are asked to submit a resume and letter of interest explaining why they wish to serve on the board of education and how they plan to support the district, its students, and the Swanton community,” it states.

The application deadline is 3 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 10, and it can be emailed to Becky.Nelson@swantonschools.org or mailed to the board office at 108 N. Main St., Swanton, OH 43558, with questions directed to (419) 826-7085.

Separately, the district is also seeking a new head football coach, with an application deadline of November 30.

Those interested can submit a resume with references by mail to the board office, to the attention of Superintendent Secretary Becky Nelson, emailed to the same address, or delivered in person at the office, which is open from 8 a.m. to 3:50 p.m., Monday through Friday.
