The Wauseon Police division and Police Chief Kevin Chittenden would like the people of the area to know about their latest project toward protecting and preserving the peace of the city of Wauseon.

Actually, the project is far older than many might realize and it aims to educate the youngest of the population how to keep themselves and others safe.

Safety City is a program developed back in 1978 which was geared to teach pre-kindergarten students about the importance of safety and the program was well-received and funded by several local businesses, clubs, and organizations.

The police of Wauseon feel how important it is to help young children understand the importance of vigilance and well-being in a world that never stops changing.

They want children to understand that the world can be a dangerous and at times scary place, but that safety and happiness are always an option and a priority which can be maintained.

Chief Chittenden wants to thank the supporters of the Safety City Program, for it’s their support and backing that allows the program to continue and thrive into the present day.

With the chaos and unpredictable nature of 2020, the police of Wauseon want nothing more than to assure the citizens of the region that they can still rely on the protection the officers provide and that education on the vitalness of safety and understanding how to protect oneself will be passed onto the eager young people who will one day be leading this great nation.

Donations for the Safety City Program are welcomed and thoroughly appreciated and hope for a continued successful program is shared throughout the city.

Donations can be sent to Kristin Carrisalez at the Wauseon Police Station.
