Unemployment numbers recently released by the Ohio State Department of Job and Family Services show a continued upward trend in numbers. Numbers from the month of October 2024 to November 2024 also showed an increase.
Numbers for Fulton County showed an unemployment rate of 3.7% in October, 4.1% in November and 4.8% in December.
For Williams County, unemployment numbers increased from 3.4% in October to 3.9% in November, with the latest numbers showing a jump to 4.3% for December.
This equates to an increase of 1.1% in Fulton County and 0.9% for Williams County over the course of 2 months. As for the State of Ohio, numbers increased from 3.5% in October to 3.9% in November and 4.2% in December.
Numbers for the United States have however stayed relatively the same with unemployment numbers of 3.9% for October, 4.0% for November, and 3.8% for December.
Results for other counties in Northwest Ohio were also more mixed. Several counties saw an increase while others saw a decrease. Lucas County dropped from a 7.0% rate in October to 6.8% in November and 5.7% in December.
Henry and Ottawa Counties however saw a large increase, with Henry County going from 3.5% in October to 4.1% in November and 5.5% in December. Ottawa County’s numbers shot up from 4.5% in October, to 5.9% in November and 7.5% in December.
Out of 88 counties in Ohio, these numbers set Henry County at 20th and Ottawa County at 2nd for unemployment. Fulton County sits at 32 and Williams County sits at 51 for the month of December.
