Varsity Golf Summaries – August 15 – 19, 2016

Varsity Golf
August 15th, 2016

Fairview defeated North Central and Montpelier in a tri-match. The Apaches total score of 187 was five shots better than the Eagles’ 192 strokes. The Locomotives compiled a total score of 217. Individual for North Central, David Pinc shot a nine-hole score of 40. Chace Boothman was one shot behind with a 41. Allyson Huthison was in third position for the Eagles with a 53. Brock Zuver turned in a round of 58 while Landon Patten (60) and Evan Livengood (65) rounded out the Eagle scores. Montpelier was led through the nine holes by both Aaron Stoy and Tyler Rupp as they finished with matching 48s. Garrett Witt was 10 shots back with a 58 and Roman Sommer finished as the Locomotives fourth golfer with a 63. Rounding out the Montpelier effort was a round of 71 by Braden Saneholtz.

The Bryan Golden Bears competed in the 17-team Kalida Invitational and finished in fifth with a team score of 338. Bryan was led with matching rounds of 82 by Case Harman and Conner Lemons. Connor Shirkey carded a round of 86 while Owen Beaver shot an 88 and Petyon Lamberson finished with 94. Kalida won the tournament with a score of 312 followed by Meadowbrook’s 315 and Ottawa Hills was third with 329. Trey Singleton of Meadowbrook was the tournament medalist with a round of 71.


Varsity Golf

The Golden Bears were 157 – 168 winners in a dual match with North Central. Three golfers shared medalist honors with rounds of 38. They included Owen Beaver and Case Hartman of Bryan and David Pinc of North Central. Bryan’s other scores included: Connor Shirkey (40), Peyton Lamberson (41), Connor Lemons (42) and Andrew Heller (44). Joining Pinc for the Eagles were: Chace Boothman (42), Brock Zuver (43), Landon Patten (45), Allyson Hutchison (48) and Evan Livengood (49).

White Pines was the site of a tri-match including Delta, Holgate and Pettisvile. The Panthers were victorious shooting a combined round of 177. Holgate was second with 201 and the Blackbirds were third with a 237. Chase Sandusky of Delta was the medalist with a 39. Other Delta golfers included: Jay Vann (40), Drew Mattin (45), Brady Wymer (53), Cole Mattin (54) and Chris Brick (56). Pettisville’s four golfers were led by Andrew Canada with a 53 along with Austin Horning (56), Josh Graber (61) and Graeme Jacoby (67).

Stryker 166, Liberty Center 195,
Holgate 201
Stryker’s Hayden Clingaman led the the way with a medalist performance of 39 as the Panthers won two in a tri-match. Abe Montague had a strong showing firing a 41 while Austin Frisbie (43), Aaron Sidle (43), Colin Anders (44) and Kaid Woolace (45) followed.

Evergreen 189, Hilltop 197
The Vikings used a 42 from Travis Mersing as they topped the Cadets in a non-league dual match. Following Mersing were Nick Hudick and Kaleb Lumberzer with rounds of 47 apiece. Evan Conrad and Kayla Miller carded 53s while Zach Lumberzer finished with a 54. Hilltop was led with Skyler Butterfield’s 44. Jay Garrett was one stroke behind with a 45. Jestin Maddox (53), Andrew Denton (55), Brayden Yates (79) and Makalie Swisher (85) rounded out the Cadet’s scoring.
