Velma Canfield (1944-2019)

Velma Mae Canfield, age 75, of Delta, passed away December 12, 2019. She was born on November 21, 1944 in Lucasville, Ohio, to Stanley and Jessie Crabtree, and moved to Delta when she was two years old. Velma grew up in a large combined Crabtree/Buehrer family of 15 children.

Velma was married to Gene Miller from 1964-1986 and they raised three children together: Karen (Joe) Boyd, Angela Miller-Chase, and Roy (Kathy) Miller. She dedicated her life to raising her children and babysat for other children in their home for many years.

Velma then married Buddy Canfield from 1990 – 1991. From 1991 to present Velma changed her life focus and helped raise her 10 grandchildren in every way possible. She will be remembered for her deep love and commitment to her immediate and extended family.

Velma was preceded in death by her parents and 10 siblings. She is survived by three children, 10 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and four siblings.

Visitation for Velma will be held from 2:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M. on Sunday, December 15, 2019, at the Grisier-Weigel Funeral Home in Delta. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, also in the funeral home, with Pastor Don Krieger, officiating. Interment will follow in the Winameg Cemetery.
