Velma Corbin (1924-2020

Velma R. Corbin, age 95, of Bryan, Ohio, died at 1:28 A.M. on Saturday, January 18, 2020, at Community Health Professionals Inpatient Hospice near Defiance, Ohio. She was an assembler and floor supervisor at Pioneer Rubber Company and AMF.

She managed Ranchwood Mobile Home Park in Bucyrus and New Washington Mobile Home Park in New Washington, Ohio, before moving to Florida. She was an active member and volunteer at Wesley United Methodist Church in Bryan and Wildwood United Methodist Church in Wildwood, Florida.

Velma was an avid crocheter and collector of friends. She was a gypsy at heart, loving to travel and live in different locations.

Born on July 13, 1924, in New Haven Township, Ohio, she was the daughter of Mabel I. (Lepard) Parker. On December 8, 1943, she married her high school sweetheart, Eugene “Ernie” E. Corbin in Willard, Ohio, and he preceded her in death on October 10, 1990.


Velma is survived by her daughters, Mary Jane (Tom Miller) Stantz, of Bryan, and Barbara (Dan) Bush, of North Canton, Ohio; eight grandchildren, Jamie (Scott) Parker, Michael (Danielle) Bush, Amy Perry, Daniel (Dorcas) Lamneck, Chris (Charles) Taylor, Theresa (Richard) Perry, Donna (Ron) Burke and Barbara Stantz; eighteen great-grandchildren; numerous great-great-grandchildren; sister, Myra Jenkins, of Norwalk, Ohio; daughter-in-law, Rita Bennett, of Sagamore Hills, Ohio; and sister-in-law, Dorothy Parker, of Florrisant, Missouri.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, “Ernie” in 1990; son, Ernest Allen “Pete” Corbin in 1976; grandson, Donald Lamneck; brothers, Ralph, Glen, Earl and Allen Parker; and sisters, Amy Jean Parker and Esther Moreland.

In keeping with Velma’s wishes, there will be no visitation or services. Krill Funeral Service, 860 West Mulberry Street, Bryan, has been entrusted with her arrangements.


Memorials in the name of Velma R. Corbin may be given to the Bryan Senior Center, 1201 South Portland Street, Bryan, Ohio 43506 or the Senior Center of Norwalk, 130 Shady Ln Dr, Norwalk, OH 44857.
