Steuben County officials have identified the man who died in a fire Thursday morning at a Jimmerson Lake home as Gene Mitchell, 94, of Lima, Ohio. Orland and Angola Fire Departments arrived at the dead end of Lane 340 to find that the single story home had flames coming through the roof. The Steuben County Coroner’s Office said that Snyder died of smoke inhalation and severe thermal burns.
The other resident, who suffered burns and other injuries, has not been identified. The cause of the fire is still under investigation by the Indiana Fire Marshal.
