Wauseon Board Of Education Accepts Donations & Approves Staff Changes

Members of the Wauseon Exempted Village Board of Education convened for a meeting on the afternoon of January 28.

In business items from the agenda, the Board approved the following donations:

•A Selmer Clarinet model #1401 from Patricia and Charles Carr to the WHS Band (value by donor $100)
•$23.57 from Christ United Methodist Church for after school snacks
•$246 from Congregational United Church of Christ to the WES Food Pantry
•$500 (10 – $50 gift cards) from Wauseon Rotary to the WES Food Pantry (correction)
•$667 from Haas Door Company (Ed and Jeff Nofziger) to the WES Food Pantry
•$1,232.44 from the Tomahawk Wrestling Club to the WHS Athletic Department to be used toward Wrestling hotel accommodations (Brecksville)
•$1,000 from the Tomahawk Wrestling Club to the WHS Athletic Department to be used toward bleachers for the Athletic Facility
•$300 from True North to WES Food Pantry
•$1,071.76 from the Wauseon Athletic Boosters to the WHS Athletic Department to be used toward video equipment for WHS Girls Basketball
•$1,376 from the Wauseon Athletic Boosters to the WHS Athletic Department to be used toward team shirts for Bowling

In items pertaining to personnel, the Board approved the reassignment of Stacy Beaverson from a WMS Seventh Grade Reading/Language Arts Teacher to a WMS Eighth Grade Reading/Language Arts Teacher for the 2016-17 school year. The Board approved the placement of Jill Armstrong from a WES Fifth Grade Teacher to a WMS Sixth Grade Reading/Language Arts Teacher for the 2016-17 school year. Also approved by the Board was the placement of Andrea Stevens from a WHS English Teacher to a WPS Title I Reading Teacher for the 2016-17 school year, and the reassignment of Sarah Ripke from a WES Fifth Grade Intervention Specialist to a WES Fifth Grade Teacher for the 2016-17 school year. The Board offered Mike Webster a one-year certificated athletic supplemental contract as a Junior High Track Coach at Step 0 on the approved salary schedule for the 2015-16 school year.


The Board approved Kate Bernath as a Volunteer High School Softball Coach for the 2015-16 school year, pending receipt of both a clean BCI/FBI background check and Pupil Activity Permit, and approved the following individuals as Volunteer Coaches for the 2015-16 school year:

Caitlin Friess – Volunteer High School Softball Coach
Steve Marks – Volunteer High School Baseball Coach
Ryan Yackee – Volunteer High School Softball Coach
Jack Warncke – Volunteer High School Baseball Coach

The Board approved Jessica Keene as a Classified Substitute for the 2015-16 school year, pending receipt of both a clean BCI/FBI background check, and approved Sara Tanner as a Classified Substitute for the 2015-16 school year.


The Board approved the following individuals as OHSAA Team Duals Tournament workers, retroactive to January 27, 2016:

Adam Baird
Katie Miller
Sara Rupp
Jordan Smith
Matt Hutchinson
Chris Thomas
Kristin Kutz
Dr. Tony Uribes – Volunteer
Doug Kutzli – Volunteer
Glenn Coblentz – Volunteer
Ken Baumgartner – Volunteer
Hugo Barajas – Volunteer

In matters pertaining to students, the Board approved the following overnight trips for the Speech Team as presented:
•OHSSL State Qualifier Gahanna, OH February 5-6
•OHSSL State Finals Princeton, OH March 3-5
•NSDA District Congress Columbus, OH March 18-19

The Board then entered into executive session for the discussion of the employment of personnel. No action taken, and the Board adjourned upon returning to regular session.
