WAUSEON BOARD OF EDUCATION: Board Recognizes Gymnastics As Varsity Sport For 2024-2025 School Year

The Wauseon Board of Education held their meeting on Monday, October 15th at 5:00 p.m. The meeting began with the Pledge of Allegiance before moving on to approve the prior meeting’s minutes and the following items as part of the Treasurer’s Consent Agenda.

A list of bills and financial reports, appropriations for FY 2025, and a lengthy list of donations. The board also moved to recognize gymnastics as a varsity sport for the 2024-2025 school year with athletes participating through the Northwest Ohio Gymnastics Academy for the purpose of competing in the Ohio High School Athletic Association’s Winter Sports Tournament. All funding for the sport is expected to be provided by the parents of participants through the NWOGA.

Next, a list of personnel items were approved that included the dedicated school staffing substitute list, as well as approval for the following individuals to serve as Volunteer Northwest Ohio Gymnastics Academy Varsity Coaches for the 2024-2025 school year. Abbie Badenhop, Erika Wolf, and Bethany Russell.

The board then moved to set the date for the 2025 Wauseon Exempted Village Board of Education Organizational Meeting, which will be held on January 13th, 2025, at 4:45 p.m.

Lastly, board members approved the Disadvantaged Pupil Impact Aide Plan and Student Wellness Success Plan before moving to adjourn.
