August 28th-West Unity: Hilltop hosted the Wauseon Lady Indians on Thursday. The Cadets were admirable in defense of their home court, but couldn’t stop Wauseon from leaving with the victory.
The match was a highly contested one. The Lady Indians were able to gain an early advantage, taking game 1, 25-15. The Cadets marched their way back into the match, however, owning game 2, 25-19. Momentum swung in favor of the visitors, and Wauseon breezed through game 3 with relative ease. The Lady Cadets tried to force a game five, but couldn’t get past game 4, losing the set 23-25.
Wauseon’s Hayley Chamberlain impressed with her 17 assists, accompanied with her 3 aces, 2 kills, and 2 blocks. Not to be outdone, Morgan Roth contributed 18 assists and 1 ace to the Lady Indian victory effort. Sydney Bosell had 8 kills, 3 blocks, and 1 ace on the evening, and Kallie Strauss also made 8 kills to go along with her 2 blocks. Sariah Yackee had 15 digs to her name, as well.
Cierra Grant led the Cadets in blocks with seven, also adding 4 kills, 3 digs, and 1ace in the losing effort. Ariana Brown had 9 kills, 6 blocks, and 1 dig for the match. Baylee Schmitt set things up for her teammates, making 14 assists and 2 kills.
