Wauseon Handles Evergreen And Tinora In Three-Way Meet

(April 7th, 2015) – WAUSEON: The Wauseon boys hosted Evergreen and Tinora in a tri-meet on Tuesday, April 7. The hometown Indians were a bit less than hospitable, earning a rather convincing victory over the two schools. They scored 111 points in the meet compared to the 31 of Evergreen or the 30 of Tinora.

The 4X800 meter relay team of Tyler Wilson, Kyle Vernot, Aaron Beck, and Caleb Blanchong took first place with a time of 9:01.96. In the 4X400 meter relay, it was Gage Campbell, Wilson, Mason Creager, and Quintin Reiser who won the event, running a 3:45.96. The team of Dawson Rupp, Zach Johnson, Chase Reynolds, and Tabb Gype claimed victory in the 4X200 meter relay. Traviz Adkins, Austin Bachman, Derek Rupp, and Leo Rendon narrowly missed first place in the 4X100 race, running a 46.68, as opposed to the 46.09 run by the winning Tinora squad.

Gype, a senior for the Indians, took first place in the 400 meter dash with a time of 53.9. Creager was close behind, earning second place at 55.46. In the 800 meter run, Reiser gave the Indians another first place finish, running a 2:11.28. Teammate Owen Newlove earned second place with a time of 2:22.84.

Noah Castle, Anthony Werder, and Noah Stickley gave Wauseon a distinct advantage in the throwing events. Castle took first in both the shot put and discus, throwing for 47’9” in the former and 155’5” in the latter. Stickley took second in the shot, with a toss of 43′. Werder claimed second in the discus at 141′, while Stickley was awarded third place with a throw of 125’8”.

Wauseon dominated their guests from top to bottom, having several competitors place in every event.
