(December 13th, 2014) – Decisive would be the best way to describe the Wauseon Junior Varsity boys victory against the Apaches from Fairview. The contest was never in doubt, and the visiting Apaches struggled mightily to try and be competitive.

Their efforts were fruitless, however, and they suffered a 32 point defeat.

The final score read 56-24, but the result could have been much worse. The Indians slowed down their offense, and allowed some players who don’t typically see time to play in the fourth quarter. Still the final score ended up being 56-24.

Chase Brock gave Wauseon a boost offensively, producing 16 points on his own. He also recorded 2 rebounds and a steal. Austin Rotroff put up 10 points in the game, also making 3 blocks and pulling down 6 rebounds. Meanwhile, Austin Bachman totaled 11 points, while he contributed 5 rebounds, 2 steals, and a block as well.

Defensively, the Indians held Fairview to single digit scoring in all four quarters, even when they took out their main players. The Apaches fell in a deep hole from the start, losing the first period 21-7. Wauseon’s elite defensive performance continued in the second quarter, as they outscored their Fairview counterparts 19-6. In the third stanza, the Apaches fell behind even further, as Wauseon took the period 13-3. The Indian offense finally stalled in the fourth quarter, but Fairview just couldn’t score against that defense. They reduced their margin of defeat by 5 points, however, finishing the period 8-3.

Wauseon played this game at a level that Fairview could not match. The Apache program has a long way to go before they can hang with the Indians.
