Wauseon School District Changes Purchase Plans

The Wauseon Exempted Village School District has recently changed its’ plans to purchase an existing retail space and remodel the interior of that location to use as a board office. Currently, most of the available office spaces in Wauseon are only available for lease only and the board has ruled out continued leasing. Since there are no other suitable purchase options at this time, the district will begin the planning process to build a modest board office space on our current property. The board plans to utilize proceeds from the future sale of the Burr Road property and permanent improvement funds for this future project. This was the original financial plan for the purchase / remodel option that will not proceed to closing.

Since our lease at 126 S. Fulton St. concludes on March 31, 2017, we will be temporarily relocating to (2) two rooms in the Wauseon Elementary / Middle School building. This will move occur during the last two weeks of March. The relocation solution provides a space for our connectivity needs to maintain fiscal and board office functions with minimum changes in student instructional areas.

Once the temporary move is completed in late March, our district will start to answer the where, when, who and what questions related to functional board office space. The regular and noon Wauseon Board of Education meetings on March 13th and March 23rd will be conducted in the current board office, second floor, at 126 S. Fulton Street. The April regular board meeting on April 10th at 5:30 p.m. will be moved to the WES/WMS conference room.
