Wauseon Woman Struck & Killed By Vehicle

A Wauseon woman was fatally injured when she was hit by a vehicle while crossing North Shoop Avenue on Wednesday morning.

Doris Waite, age 85, of 15152 State Route 2, was crossing the street at or near the crosswalk at the Rails to Trails walking path in the 700 block of North Shoop Avenue when she was hit by a vehicle in the northbound lane. She was transported to the Fulton County Health Center where she was pronounced dead.

The identity of the driver is being withheld pending an investigation and possible charges according to Wauseon Police Chief Kevin Chittenden. Alcohol is not believed to a factor in the accident.

The police report will be forwarded to the Fulton County Prosecutor’s Office after completion. No further information is available at this time.
