WAUSEON. The Wauseon Indian Wrestler’s defended their home turf in the second NWOAL Quad Meet, held on December 19. Wauseon got by the Archbold Bluestreaks 37-35 in the first match of the night for the Indians, then next faced the Evergreen Vikings to close out the night, blasting the Vikes 66-15. The pair of wins on the night moves Wauseon to 4-0 in duel action on the season in the NWOAL.
It was a battle to the final whistle from the referee in the last match to determine the winner of tonight’s battle between the hometown Wauseon Indians and Archbold, with Wauseon coming out on top 37-35. Jackson Sluder fell to Archbold’s Lukas Rufenacht 15-7 in the final match, but most significant for Wauseon, he was not pinned. Prior to entering the final match, the team score was 37-31. A pin is worth 6 team points: An Archbold pin would tie the match. Two times during Sluter’s match Rufenacht had him on his back, but Sluder fought through the near fall both times, securing the victory for the Indians in team points.
