Wauseon Wrestlers Edge Archbold; Dominate Evergreen In Home Quad

WAUSEON. The Wauseon Indian Wrestler’s defended their home turf in the second NWOAL Quad Meet, held on December 19. Wauseon got by the Archbold Bluestreaks 37-35 in the first match of the night for the Indians, then next faced the Evergreen Vikings to close out the night, blasting the Vikes 66-15. The pair of wins on the night moves Wauseon to 4-0 in duel action on the season in the NWOAL.

VS ARCHBOLD

It was a battle to the final whistle from the referee in the last match to determine the winner of tonight’s battle between the hometown Wauseon Indians and Archbold, with Wauseon coming out on top 37-35. Jackson Sluder fell to Archbold’s Lukas Rufenacht 15-7 in the final match, but most significant for Wauseon, he was not pinned. Prior to entering the final match, the team score was 37-31. A pin is worth 6 team points: An Archbold pin would tie the match. Two times during Sluter’s match Rufenacht had him on his back, but Sluder fought through the near fall both times, securing the victory for the Indians in team points. On the evening for the Indians: 145 Derek Schuette (Wauseon) pinned Cory Rocha 5:00, 152 Kenny Price (Archbold) pinned Dylan Nicely 0:49, 160 Logan Day (Archbold) dec. Tre Campbell 3-2, 170 Aaron Schuette (Wauseon) pinned Lincoln Parsley 1:49, 182 Alec Vonier (Wauseon) maj. dec Koltin Zimmerman 18-10, 195 Tony Banister (Wauseon) dec. David Bell 7-0, 220 Lee Klingler (Archbold) won by forfeit, 285 Travis Jaramillo (Archbold) pinned Devon Jones 1:31, 106 McKayla Campbell (Wauseon) won by forfeit, 113 Andrew Bailey (Wauseon) won by forfeit, 120 Damien Short (Archbold) dec. Gage Campbell 9-1, 126 Zach Meyer (Archbold) pinned Cameron Slattman 5:25, 132 Wade Hodges pinned Mitchell Hogrefe 1:08, 138 Lukas Rufenacht (Archbold) dec. Jackson Sluder 15-7.

VS Evergreen

The second match of the night was without the drama of the first, as the more experienced Wauseon Indians rolled over the Evergreen Vikings by the score of 66-15. On the evening for the Indians: 152 Dylan Nicely won by forfeit , 160 Tre Campbell (Wauseon) pinned Trent Pelland 1:01, 170 Aaron Schuette (Wauseon) pinned Trent Mossing 0:20, 182 Alec Vonier (Wauseon) pinned Jacob Clay 0:53, 195 Tony Banister (Wauseon) pinned Sam Williamson 220 Tyler Coopshaw won by forfeit, 285 Marty Nichols (Evergreen) pinned Devon Jones 5:57, 106 Jackson Fahrer (Evergreen) dec. McKayla Campbell 8-3, 113 Andrew Bailey (Wauseon) won by forfeit, 120 Gage Campbell (Wauseon) won by forfeit, 126 Cameron Slattman pinned Jake Mildenstein 1:25, 132 Wade Hodges (Wauseon) won by forfeit, 138 Jackson Sluder won by forfeit, 145 Derek Schuette (Wauseon) won by forfeit.
