Wauseon’s Class Of 2014 Graduates; 152 Seniors Setting Off On Bigger & Better Things

152 smiling seniors made their way across the gymnasium floor Sunday as they received their deplomas at the 134th annual event.

Wauseon senior class president welcomed the crowd and was pleased to announce that the graduation did not have to be cancelled because of snow.  Kamp made reference to the 12 calamity days that the Wauseon Schools had this past winter.

After a rendition of “You’ve Got A Friend In Me” by the senior ensemble,  board president Sandy Griggs announced this year’s validictorians to the approximate 600 people attending.

Aric Gurzinski, Kathleen Spieles, Ty Suntken, Kevin Moden, Justin Morguet, Courtney Kuney, Chris Yackee and Marin Schaffner were singled out for their academic accomplishiments by principal Keith Leatherman.  Leather welcomed the validictorians to the Wauseon Academic Hall of Fame.


Superitendent Larry Brown introduced the two senior speakers.  Stacy Suzanne Lane and Ty Howard Suntken were chosen by their classmates to give the short speaches.

The Wauseon band, along with the senior members of the band, were up next with a great performance with the composition “Earhart: Sounds of Courage.

After the introduction of the diplomas, Brittany Wills and Cassidy Wells presented the school with the class gift.  Marin Schaffner gave some closing remarks and the annual event came to a close as the graduates made the recessional out of the gymnasium.
