Wayne Trace Slips Past The Pettisville Ladybirds In Extra Innings To Claim Sectional Title

May 18, 2015Updated:December 31, 2020No Comments1 Min Read

(May 14th, 2015) – HAVILAND: The Pettisville Lady Blackbirds gave the Lady Raiders of Wayne Trace all that they could handle in the D-IV Sectional Finals on May 14. Teagen Kauffman danced out of danger on several occasions, and pitched well enough to win, but the offensive support failed to materialize as the Ladybirds were ousted from the D-IV playoffs by a 2-1 score in eight innings.

Pettisville got a run in the top of the fifth when Johanna Roth crossed the plate, but the Raiders answered in the bottom of the sixth to send the game into extra innings.

With a runner aboard, Wayne Trace got the win with a smash down the first base line that got through for the game winning RBI hit.

Kauffman took the loss, going 7 innings and allowing 2 runs on 9 hits and 2 walks. Kyra Behnfeldt came on in relief, allowing the final hit.

Roth finished with a pair of base hits for the 8-11 / 5-5 Ladybirds, while Behnfeldt, Jaelyn Rufenacht and Kaija Blosser each had a pair of singles.
