Girl Scout Gold Award WEBColleen is a junior at Hilltop High School and member of Ambassador Troop # 10502. She has been a Girl Scout for nine years, She is a Girl Scout Bronze and Silver Award recipient. Her Gold Award project was TMI: Teach, Mentor, Inspire—Colleen discovered the need for a tutoring program for students and set her plan in motion. She worked in collaboration with the public library and the elementary school to establish an ongoing tutoring program for young children in need. She researched materials to find creative ideas to help teach children concepts that they were struggling with. From giving speeches to different organizations, Colleen gained publicity for her program and gathered donated school supplies for her students. The school and library will now work together to ensure this important opportunity continues.

Colleen’s favorite Girl Scout experience is a Night at the Museum where she took part in an overnight at the Toledo Museum of Art with other Girl Scouts. She has participated in various community service projects from helping at the West Unity Senior Center, sorting and stocking items at the local food pantry, and participating in a Literacy project for her Silver Award. She is always eager to help and a wonderful role model to younger girls.
