West Unity’s Samuel Sierra Killed In Morning Crash

Accident

RURAL WEST UNITY – 28 years old Samuel Sierra of West Unity died this morning in a two vehicle accident between West Unity and Montpelier at the intersection of US 20A and County Road 17 in Jefferson Township.  According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Sierra was heading east on 20A when he hit the rear axel of an International Harvester.  The farm vehicle was being operated by 61 year old Fred Chapin of Norwalk, Ohio.  Sierra was a North Central High School graduate (Pioneer, Ohio).

Life Flight was cancelled as Sierra was pronounced dead at the scene, he was not wearing a seatbelt according to troopers.  US 20A was closed between West Unity and Montpelier causing numerous delays during the morning commute.
