WILLIAMS COUNTY COMMISSIONERS: County Approves Fiber Optic Permit

On Tuesday, October 22nd the Williams County Commissioners approved a work permit for Frontier Communications.

The permit allows Frontier to work within county/township road right of way on 13719 County Road 11, Montpelier.

“I would just like to make comment on Frontier bringing fiber optic to every door. I think this is huge. You know, they are now running down County Road 11 which is exciting to me because I live on 11.50.”

“I am hoping that we see fiber optics to the rural communities and it has been a long time coming for our folks,” said Commissioner Rummel.


In other news, the commissioners approved two change orders for the Oak Street project in Edgerton. The initial project budget was $170,402, which has been revised to $166,718.

The following transfers were also approved:

-Williams County Airport Authority: $205.10 from Unappropriated to Repairs (Equipment) and Medicare for mower repairs and shortage of funds.


-Williams County Commissioners: $7,813.71 from Unappropriated to Non-Capital Equipment for EA access doors. $1,200.00 from Workers Compensation to Medicare to fund Medicare through year-end. $82,639.00 from Unappropriated to Transfer Out (General Fund) for recent ambulance remount. $82,639,00 from Transfer Out (General Fund) to Transfer In (EMS) for recent ambulance remount.

-Williams County Common Pleas (Juvenile Division): $1,158.83 from Juvenile Attendance Contract (Unappropriated) to Juvenile Salaries Employees, Juvenile Medicare, and Juvenile DYS Grant (Unappropriated) to provide funds through fiscal year 2024. $145.98 from Juvenile Family Intervention (Unappropriated) to Juvenile Medicare to provide funds through fiscal year 2024. $504.48 from Juvenile Federal Grant (Unappropriated) to Juvenile Medicare to provide funds through fiscal year 2024.

-Williams County EMA: $14,000.00 from Unappropriated to Salaries and PERS for to shortfall said lines.

-Williams County EMS: $11,561.20 from Supplies (Pharmaceutical) to Dues and Subscriptions, Supplies (Medical), and Utilities (Water, Sewer, Garbage) for low funds.


-Williams County Engineer: $200.00 from Administrative to Medicare and $250.00 from Administrative to Medicare to cover payroll Medicare deductions. $150.00 from Contract Projects to Medicare and $2,150.00 from Contract Projects to Medicare to cover payroll Medicare deductions. $1,100.00 from Administrative to Medicare to cover payroll Medicare deductions. $$300.00 from Capital Assets (Machinery & Equipment) to Medicare to cover payroll Medicare deductions. $845.05 from Contract

Projects to Advertising for legal Ads in newspaper. $1,094.66 from Contract Projects to Compensation & Damages for telephone pedestal damage.

-Williams County Hillside Country Living: $60,628.05 from Unappropriated to Other Expenses (C Box OTC Meds), Other Expenses (Medicare A), Pharmacy Fee, Repairs (Equipment), Therapy, Principle Payment to fund above lines. $3,230.68 from Unappropriated to Principle Payment, Garbage/Waste Removal, and Activities to fund the above lines.

-Williams County Sheriff’s Office: $13,328.00 from Unappropriated (Sheriff’s Special Fund) to Non-Capital Assets for body-worn cameras.

-Williams County Treasurer’s Office: $41.00 from Unappropriated to Medicare for Medicare. $6,466.35 from Unappropriated to Employee Salaries, Medicare, and OPERS to fund the above lines.

The commissioners entered an executive session at 9:12 a.m. Upon returning from the executive session, no action was taken.

With nothing further, the meeting was adjourned at 9:25 a.m.
