The Williams County Theater is at it again, providing entertainment for the good residents of our community.
This round, the audience is being left laughing, snorting, and gasping at the absurdity of “Rex’s Exes”.
Directed by Jeremy Scott and Kevin Smith and produced by Chelsea Tappen, this comedy is full of twists and turns, sure to keep anyone on their toes.
The dysfunctional Verdeen family live in the heart of Texas and have a lot on their plates. Gayrelle’s (Tiffany Day) husband has been caught sleeping around, Jimmie’s (Crystal Rose Bowers) business, Wide Bride, while successful, is still overcoming substantial hurdles, and Peaches (Amber Simmons) is being plagued by the ghost of her husband, Rex, who disappeared 8 years ago.
A birthday, a funeral, the “Third” Lady of Texas (wife to the speaker of the house played by Libby Daniel), a shotgun, and an act straight out Lazarus’s playbook compound to make for an interesting time for the Verdeen family, where family bonds are shown to be too strong to be broken by what Jimmie and Gayrelle want to convince Peaches is a stupid little secret.
The show touched on family values, hilarious jokes, and left everyone smiling at the many absurdities presented by the dedicated cast of Rex’s Exes at the Williams County Community Theater.
The Mousetrap, directed by Mary Beth Snider, will be the next show to be featured, and is set to run December 1-10.
The 2024 season, at the historic Goldsmith Theater, will begin with “Love Sick” set to claim the first show of the season in February.
