The Williams County Dog Pound and Humane Society showed their support for our 4-legged officers located in the county after a successful T-shirt drive. K9 units from the Williams County Sheriff’s Office, as well as the Montpelier and Stryker Police Forces received a slew of freebies from the groups after the shirt sales.

The T-shirts had a flag on the front that says “ I Back The Blue” with the back of the shirt sporting a paw print and saying “Support The Paws That Enforce The Laws.” The shirts were produced by Cheryl Rowley and she charged no labor for the project.

The idea was pushed by Ashtin Norrick, who works at the Humane Society. She noticed that with so much hatred against law enforcement lately, she wanted to let them know there are still people out there who care and appreciate their service. With her work at the Humane Society, collecting for the local K9 units was a perfect plan.

Along with the T-Shirt sales three local businesses also donated gift certificates. Jumpin Beanz, Churn, and Edon Dairy Treat all gave gift certificates so the human and K9 officers could enjoy a free meal, coffee, and puppucchinos. Homemade dog biscuits were also given to the officers by Jennifer Buehler.

Funds from the T-shirt sales went towards purchasing gift certificates from Elite K9 and Ray Allen K9. Left over funds were used to buy other gifts, so as extra-large dog beds, toys and treats.
