MARCO’S PIZZA … Fulton County Sheriff Roy Miller, Sergeant Bryan Coger, Deputy Noah Eisel and 911 Coordinator Richard Kilgor pose with a pile of pizzas delivered to them from the Wauseon Legion Riders around July 22, 2020. The black and red things on top are chew toys for each of the K-9s. The entire office enjoyed the pizza!

Fulton County Sheriff Roy E. Miller shared these thoughts in answer to our questions about the outpouring of care from the community during these difficult times: “When Deputies see the negativity on TV every day, one does begin to doubt if what they do for the community is noticed. Here in Fulton County our office is blessed with great support by the community and by having a smaller population county wide. It seems everybody knows someone, so when there is interaction it’s more personable than where there might be a population of over 300,000.
When the media continues to show this stuff, I know as a leader to tell Deputies to keep their heads up and continue to do what’s right and the community will support us. Then we get phone calls from our community, some choking up as they tell us what we are seeing does not represent what the Fulton County residents feel. I forward these messages on and it really picks up the Deputies spirits and moral. I can’t count how many thank you cards and food items have been brought to our office the past three months.
It just reinforces what I tell the Deputies, do the right thing and the Community will back you. Not saying we are perfect, we are human and we do make mistakes, but we put our pants on like everyone else, one leg at a time.
I tell this to Deputies as well: when we have time, stop and talk with people, let them know what’s going on if anything, but just having a conversation is huge. Citizens should stop and speak with us, or call us, also. I get people saying, ‘Oh, we don’t want to bother you with small stuff. You’re too busy with other things.’ Nothing is too small if it is a concern to you. We’re only a call away. Police business is like any other, there will be bad ones, and they are dealt with and weeded out.
Most of all we would like to thank the Community for their continued support. We appreciate all the cards that have been sent to encourage us and all the acts of kindness. When Deputies see this it lets them know we live in a community that cares and we are an office that cares for our community as well.”
