The Williams County Agricultural Society met on May 16th at 7 p.m. in the Thaman Building at the Williams County Fairgrounds.
After the pledge of allegiance, the minutes from their April 25th meeting were approved as presented.
The Gillette Building judges have been contacted for antiques and horticulture, with a meeting held to iron out photography and judging details earlier in the month.
The office computers are still being figured out, with one now up and running.
Tag details were discussed for the goats, cattle, and pigs pending changing requirements, with it being shared that there are now avenues in place for participants to obtain tags through the fair board.
A tag reader will need to be purchased to help get the animals into the system.
Discussion turned then to the campgrounds, which are planning to be open all summer.
Clover Science has been going on throughout the fairgrounds, with permission being granted for ground use.
The conversation returned to judging, with livestock judging responsibility division being detailed.
There will be more tables and more hands-on activities for judging this year, with operations expected to return to their pre-covid normal.
The fair phones will have to be operated off of a hotspot, as WiFi has been an issue to get to the fairgrounds.
Grant information for the Fair Queen Bench has yet to be returned, with the application having been accepted and the project already underway.
Event times were solidified for the fair book, and it was shared how excited everyone is for the rodeo this year.
For new businesses, a new piece of equipment recommended for purchase was listed at $3,925, which is the same price as last year.
Permission was given for the purchase, with it being shared that this tool will have the ability to level dirt and will come in handy.
Restructuring for putting a new door where the rock wall by the grandstand was discussed, with it being shared that there is a long process ahead of the project.
Permits will have to be filed, a structural engineer will have to be called, and all the plans will have to be approved prior to anything happening.
Permission was granted for the process to begin before Mrs. Goll shared that they are looking to establish a process for prizes, with it being shared that cash payments would save the board money.
They then adjourned the meeting at 7:40 p.m., set to meet again June 20th at 7 p.m.
