PRESS RELEASE – Eliot Nofziger, Area Director for YFC, spoke to the Stryker Rotary Club at their regular meeting on Tuesday evening.
Eliot has been with YFC for more than ten years and it all began with an invitation from Gary & Sandy Stuckey to work full-time in the Stryker area using a facility that was in downtown Stryker.
He informed the club that when he took his new position with YFC the activity and programs with Stryker did not end. Currently Amanda Wyse is leading the efforts in the Stryker area.
He went on to say that the need for leaders in the Stryker area is great, much the same as other areas the Defiance chapter is serving. The chapter is currently serving 891 young people having regular conversations with 665.
They have witnessed The Holy Spirit bring 135 young people to believe in the power of salvation through Christ, with 115 of them assisting with discipleship.
YFC also has a very aggressive growth plan for the next four years with a goal of serving 2,510 young people by year 2029. This goal is based on bringing 10% of the young people in our area.
Eliot assured us that with additional support they should have no problem meeting their goals. The support required includes more leadership in carrying out the efforts, prayer for success, and finances.
YFC has been in existence since 1949 when Billy Graham envisioned the need and started the organization. The Defiance chapter has been working actively since 1959.
