Santa came through Metamora this past Sunday evening during the village’s Christmas Parade.
The parade took place at 5:30 p.m. with a couple other events taking place before and after.
At 5:00 p.m. the Evergreen Elementary Young Vikings Choir began singing Christmas songs uptown on East Main Street near the Metamora State Bank and Village Christmas Tree.
Many local businesses and organizations had floats in this year’s parade as well as the Metamora-Amboy Fire Department, Lyons-Royalton Fire Department and the Evergreen Marching Band.
During the parade, the marching band stopped in front of the Christmas tree and played two songs for everyone that came out to see the parade.
At the conclusion of the parade, everyone was invited to stop over at the Fire Station to see Santa and enjoy hot chocolate and cookies.
The Village of Metamora would like to thank the Metamora-Amboy Volunteer Fire Department for their help with traffic control and the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office.
“The parade brings our community together. We are very excited to have the return of the Evergreen High School Marching Band playing in this year’s parade as well as the addition of the Evergreen Elementary Young Vikings Choir to kick off the sound of music.”
“I know it’s a busy time of the year for everyone but I’m hoping it will become a holiday tradition for families to either participate in the parade or just be spectators to share in the sights and sounds of holiday cheer and merriment amongst each other,” said Village Fiscal Officer Heather Lumbrezer.
