The Edon Senior Center has welcomed new a new Site Manager. On December 4th, Heidi Bauer took over as the center director. Prior to joining the Senior Center team, Heidi worked at Cameron Hospital in the Home Care and Hospice department and was released on April 1st when the department was eliminated.

“A friend of mine posted the open director’s position on Facebook and it seemed like it would be a fun and neat job. So, I applied and I got it.” “Everyone has been so welcoming here that it’s not even like coming to a job, it is more like talking with your family members.”

Heidi is focused on getting the seniors to be more active in the community and to coordinate with the school to have kids come and help out with some things such as Edon Bomber Day and maybe have the jazz band perform.

Health is also a main focus for Heidi as she is planning on starting a walking, or exercise program which will become a monthly competition where participants can earn prizes at the end of the month.

To keep track of the member’s activities, a scrap book is under consideration where each member will have their own page or two spotlighting their family and the people they love.

The center provides a comfortable atmosphere for seniors to come and socialize, have lunch, participate in activities, or just relax and reminisce among friends. Those members not able to get out of the house may qualify to receive meals delivered to them.

For information on how to become a member of how to volunteer to become a part of the team, simply contact the center by calling 419-272-2070 or look for flyers at the bank, post office and library for details. The center is always looking for volunteer to help out.
